An archeotour suitable for everyone in the Archaeological Naturalistic Park of the city of Vulci, among the excavations of the ancient metropolis, noble Etruscan tombs and a luxuriant nature of sounds, colors and emotions.
Very enjoyable itinerary, also suitable for families, which allows you to dive into the fascinating world of Etruscan-Roman archeology for a full immersion in the wonderful Vulci Archaeological Naturalistic Park. Starting from the Park ticket office, a short path leads to the top of the plateau on which the Etruscan-Roman city developed in ancient times. Entering the Etruscan city, crossing Porta Ovest and walking on the Roman paving, you reach the Great Temple and the nearby Brick Buildings and Absidate Building. Continue by visiting the evocative Domus del Criptoportico, going down into the basement of the Roman-era residence, and then you reach the Mithraeum. The decumanus then descends into the Fiora valley where, thanks to recent excavations, the remains of the Emporium have emerged, of the walls in opus quadratum which also served as an embankment of the river, of the bridge that crossed the Fiora, of some furnaces for firing vases in black paint. The path flanked by fences continues down to the bottom of the valley where it joins the uphill path and the stairway that takes you back to the top of the plateau. Once at the top, the path skirts the edge of the plateau to the right and descends, with a few flights of stairs, to the Pellicone lake, where you can enjoy a moment of relaxation and tranquility while admiring the emerald waters and the profile of a paradisiacal landscape. Return to the ticket office passing by the refreshment point where it is possible to taste the dishes of the Maremma tradition.
Going back along the decumanus, you cross the crossroads with the cardo, you pass the remains of the Hercules sacellum and, after crossing the East Gate, you leave the ancient city. Immediately outside the door you can see the remains of the tub with sacred functions.
