PositiveKite offers the opportunity for a fast-paced trip floating on water. A group sup archaeological excursion among the archaeological remains on the north coast of Rome, in Santa Severa.
Leaving by sup (Stand Up Paddling) from the beach north of the Santa Severa Castle, we will walk a few hundred metres to observe the seabed between the castle and the emporic sanctuary of Pyrgi.
This area is rich in archaeological remains. Thanks to the systematic reconnaissance carried out by the Maritime Studies Centre of the Archaeological Group of the Cerite Territory, operating at the Museo del Mare e della Navigazione Antica (Museum of the Sea and Ancient Navigation), who will act as our guides, it has been possible to produce the first archaeological map of the seabed.
Today, many archaeological remains from various eras (from Etruscan to Renaissance) are visible and can be admired during the excursion.
We will walk around the Castle of Santa Severa until we reach the beach called Sabbie nere, where we can observe the important archaeological area of Pyrgi.
All participants will be provided with the necessary equipment: board, oar, masks.
During the excursion you will have the opportunity to take a short snorkelling session to observe the underwater exhibits.
