Awaiting you on the outskirts of Rome is the fairytale Castle of Santa Severa, one of the most evocative places in the Lazio region.
Located on the Tyrrhenian coast north of Rome, it is a piece of heritage of inestimable historical and cultural value. HISTORY
Constructed from the 14th century onwards on the ruins of the old Etruscan port of Pyrgi by the sea, the castle has a quadrangular plan and is fortified by towers and a moat surrounded by three concentric walls that also enclose a village and the early Christian church of Santa Severa. A wooden bridge connects it with the Maschio, a large cylindrical fortified tower.
VISITING THE CASTLE
Inside it is the Museum of the Sea and Ancient Navigation, the Antiquarium of Pyrgi and the Local History Museum.
